Problem with 2005 Ford Escape (whistling brake pedal)?
I have a 2005 Ford Escape SUV and I have a problem that has been going on for quite a while. When I am driving and release the brake (such as when I am pulling away from a stop sign or stop light) a loud whistling sound starts (it is almost like the sound when a teapot is whistling on the stove). If I tap the brake again it stops, if I don’t tap the brake it just slowly fades away. I am 99% sure it is something to do with the pedal and nothing to do with the brakes. I have taken it into the repair shop but they always claim the can not reproduce it. The sound is driving me and my wife crazy!! If you have any idea what can be making it please let me know. Thanks.
I’ve had the barkes checked and they said they are fine. So it has to be something to do with the pedal…remember, when I tap the pedal it stops the noise. It DOES NOT make a sound when I press the brakes, only when I release my foot off the pedal.
im 99% sure it has nothing to do with your brake pedal, A brake pedal has nothing that could make any kind of steady noise. Chances are you brakes are worn and the noise you hear is a thin metal bracket that is designed to make noise when your brakes are worn out.
