Vanilla Extract – What Brand?
I want to get my aunt who loves making gourmet desserts a premium quality vanilla as a little gift. I have never tried the powders or pastes? Any one have input on this, Should I try one of them vs. the extract and what brand is the most potent and of highest quality?
I would get her whole vanilla beans. The process involved in extracts takes away the true flavor of the vanilla. Whole vanilla beans can be found in jars at stores like Whole Foods Mkt. etc. etc. I never use extract except for the occasion of chocolate chip cookies or something.
