Is my cat having mild contractions?
Hi,
I believe my cats waters broke earlier on today, there was a pool of water next to her litter tray. This evening she is laid on her side on the coffee table. (she normally lays on her belly but she is on her side now) Every now and then it looks as though her belly tightens for a few seconds then goes back to normal, she moves when this happens, this has only been happening for a little while. Everything i have read says she will be pacing, meowing etc but she isn’t? Could it just be that she is a quiet cat anyway? Are these the first signs that labour may be starting?
I don’t want people moaning about her being pregnant, i have only had her a few weeks. And she is going to get spayed as soon as they are weaned.

Yes her mild contractions have begun the tightening of her belly is contractions your seeing,she moves when this happens as it is uncomfortable, and you heard right they do pace but only as the contractions get stronger and more frequent,so she will pace and call out as they get more pain-full what she is having now is only mild contractions,
so set up her nesting box as your in for a restless night with her as she paces and calls out,and when a kitten comes out she will scream all over the place,all normal and it sounds like labour is going fine as her mild contractions help move the kittens to the birth canal,i have seen over 500 kittens being born due to foster so what your saying is all fine,
