DO dangerous fumes come from burning up an empty metal pan if the stove is accidentally left on maybe an hour?
Ok, I got back to my apartment really late one night and since I didn’t have my kettle to make a cup of tea with I put some water in a small metal pan (not stainless steel but rougher..more like Teflon only not as soft feeling) to boil on high and sat in a chair and completely fell asleep. My roommate got back some time later….it could have been 45 minutes or longer maybe and found me and there was quite a bit of smoke and the pan which was normally black had burned through so badly that it is now blue and greyish white on the inside of the pan. There was even yellow and black stuff on the microwave over the stove. She told me when she woke me I was completely disoriented and acting strange and foggy kind of. My question is could I have been inhaling any kind of dangerous fumes or somethin?
If there was teflon or some other type of non stick coating on the pan, that can release dangerous chemicals when burned. If you feel any lasting effects you should see your doctor.
