What method of boiling the water would generate less CO2?

I am an avid tea drinker. I am also trying to reduce the amount of CO2 produced by my family. That generate less CO2, heating a quart of water to boil in a pot of steel on a standard natural gas burner (10 minutes of gas consumption natural) or heating a liter of water in a 1000 watt electric kettle (7 minutes of electricity)? If you can think of a third option that would best the two I have listed, please include in your response. Note: I realize that, pursuant to enjoy a product that must be cultivated, collected, processed, packaged and sent abroad that I am partly responsible for a certain amount of greenhouse gases. I prefer not to give up drinking if that's positive health benefits.

The same thing has been bothering me for weeks, not so much in regard to CO2, but to reduce the electricity bill. I can only guess the answer, I think must be electric kettle. Why not have a small travel kettle and only to the amount needed for your cup / bowl / cup of tea? If this is coffee I drank, I would suggest hot water dispenser, but I understand that not relevant to boil for tea. Look energy savings fast Tefal dispenser hot water if you drink coffee cup. Just press a button and you can have a cup of filtered water in hot or cold in just 3 seconds. http://www.naturalcollection.com/natural-products/Energy-Saving-Tefal-Quick-Cup-Hot-Water-Dispenser.aspx Or what about my latest obsession, a storm kettle, which only uses twigs, but has the disadvantage that can only be used outside. It would be perfect, but for that fact. No fancy standing outside in the snow waiting for my kettle to boil. http://www.presentsformen.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=40&CAWELAID=92599754 The other route he thought was in the heat in the microwave, but again I do not know if this would be more energy efficient? What about drinking tea herbal? Ideal for you and you can grow your own summer. If only I could grow licorice root tea and had a kettle interior storm ……. * Sigh *
