How long to record audio to a dvd?
I’m backing up my music to dvds with Nero, and the software seems really slow and un-helpful, or is it me being thick?
It takes ages to scan the tracks, then ages to scan ther dvd (I’m talking 3-4 hours) then after all that it says ‘Sorry the dvd isn’t big enough’ and I have to start it all AGAIN. This is after starting the process again twice already because my laptop got bored and turned itself off once, the other time I got bored and accidentally disconnected the HDD when I sauntered off for a cup of tea.
So how long should it take to record an average album (90 mins, say) to a dvd (including encoding etc)?
I’m using an IBM laptop with 2.2Ghz Intel processor, 1Gb memory, 40gig internal hd and 80gig external HDD and it’s burning at 8x. I’ve been trying to add to a dvd that already has some mp3s on (I ticked the box to allow you to add further at a later date). Does this process slow it all down and would it be expediant of me to just add enough to completely fill the disc in 1 go?
A common problem is when users open a new project in Nero. Be sure, if backing up your music, to open a new data project. That is, so that you can save your files to the DVD as files, not as audio tracks.
It looks to me like your Nero is encoding the tracks to DVD-Audio, which would take hours.
