a good terry cloth towel fell into a melted candle on a warmer. how do u get the wax out of the towel?
had a parfait cup with two tea candles melted in it in the bathroom. someone threw the good hand towel into the wax and it soaked up most of the wax. any ideas on how to remove the wax and save the towel? do not want to run through wash like it is, may transfer onto other garments and machines.
First, decide if the towel really is worth the trouble. Freeze the towel, and definitely get as much of the cold wax out as possible. Work it out, picking at it gently, so you don’t damage the towel, scrubbing the towel against itself, etc. The next step is to iron it on warm, not hot, between layers of paper towels until you’ve gotten all you can out that way. Products like Goof-Off are supposed to work on wax, but I’ve never used it for that, so I can’t tell you from experience. Wash in the sink by itself in hot water, then the washer with other towels. Launder, hope, and pray. Best I’ve got.
