Ok to drink in general international cuisine suisse mocha while pregnant?
I recently learned that I am pregnant so now I can not have my coffee am. A friend of mine told me that you can drink in general international cuisine suisse mocha instead of coffee. I wondered if anyone else had done, or if you know if this is okay for me to drink during pregnancy. Thanks!
Effect of caffeine on pregnancy is one of the most studied of all topics health. Most studies have shown that it is safe to drink coffee during pregnancy, as long as you are consuming less than three cups or the equivalent of 300 milligrams of caffeine a day. However, a cup, and is not always a cup – 8 ounces – and could actually be consuming much more than the typical 150 mg of caffeine per serving. I went to the kitchen and took out several cups used in our house for coffee. I filled the cups about an inch below the top and measures the amount liquid in each. To my surprise, a regular cup actually held 12 ounces, or 1-1/2 cups of liquid, and the largest contained 16 grams. So a cup of coffee could pack more than 300 mg of caffeine, depending on their size and how it is made. A high single "large", for example, could contain more than the recommended maximum of 300 mg a day. And, of course, caffeine is also an ingredient in many beverages such as colas, cocoa and chocolate milk. Check out this comparison of caffeine content in different types of drinks to see what might be receiving on an average day. As for its effect on pregnancy, several human studies have associated the use of more than 300 mg caffeine per day, decreased fertility and increased rate of miscarriage or low birth weight. Most doctors therefore recommend that you do not drink more than one to two cups of coffee a day when you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Many doctors who take a step further and recommend that pregnant women and women considering pregnancy eliminate caffeine from their diets. If you are concerned, it is best to stop consuming caffeine entirely while trying to conceive or during pregnancy. But if you really need your daily dose one or two regular cups of coffee are fine – as long as the cups are measured properly and keep your total intake of caffeine to 300 mg or less per day.
