Melted my Chefmate tea kettle..toxic fumes?
Because I’m a moron and didn’t hear the kettle whistle through my closed door, the burner was on for over half an hour, completely melting the top. The bottom wasn’t blackened, but a sooty ash was left around the stove.
I opened the kitchen window and took the destroyed pot out to the dumpster, but I’m feeling a bit weary as their is a lingering, burnt plastic smell present. I want to make sure I’m not destroying my brain cells or potentially worsening my health.
You should be ok now that the event is over. The odor will linger, but as long as the smoke and haze is gone you and your brain cells should recover.
