Antique 1811 “Made in Germany” tea cup?
Hello,
I have a really old tea cup and saucer. It’s hand painted (rather crudely) for a German tea cup and saucer but it’s still exquisite if that makes any sense.
On the bottom it says in red “Made in Germany” in a red circle. It’s made out of porcelain.
I always wondered the age of it because this really looks old. However it does say “made in Germany” in English. I was wondering if it was for export.
Here’s the weird thing:
I held the bottom of the logo to the light and stamped into the porcelain it says ’1811′
Do you think this is a model number (it looks so old to have one!) or do you think it’s the date?
thank you
1. If it was made in Germany, the writing would be in German.
2. Germany wasn’t a country in 1811.
