I’m confused… please clear up the mystery for me…?

I was under the impression that Kona made a very good product. I know a few people who ride Kona mountain bikes and swear by them. Yet tonight I’m looking at some of the online retail sites and much of their clothing/gear is being liquidated. Do they make a great bike but just crappy clothes/gear or is something else going on? I’m pretty new to this mountain biking stuff and I don’t have a lot of riding clothes, etc. yet. I’d like to invest in some more stuff and 60-90% off deals sound great to me – but I don’t want to buy crap either. Please advise! Thanks!

Anyway, it was on Cambriabike.com that I was looking. I ordered a Magura brake bleed kit from them earlier in the day and I was just checking out the rest of their inventory.

The factories that made the gear are not usually manufactured by the company the makes the bikes. You can find all kinds of clothing with the name brand labels on them selling for cheap. You can buy Cannondale cycling gloves for $10. I have a pair of cycling gloves with the Giant name on them that lasted two years and fell apart. Just bought a pair of $40 cycling gloves from the Trek shop, they said they have a 5 year guarantee. I was looking for the $20 pair they advertised on their web site but these looked like a much better quality. I like them but I don’t think they will last 5 years. I buy a lot of clothing from performance bike, nashbar, and Amazon for cheap and wears well. You cant judge the bicycle manufacturer by their clothing and accessory line.
