I like cane syrup with the pecan flavor on pancakes and also great over chocalate icecream, but I noticed mold?

inside the bottle floating on the surface, What causes this? and do I need to throw it out, or can I skim it off and still safely use it again?

Many people confuse cane syrup, maple syrup etc etc to be in the same class as honey( which does not go bad).
If you leave syrups out of the fridge they mold( high moisture content causes the mold).
I would skim it and try it to see if the taste of the mold went into the syrup( it won’t make you sick). We actually eat mold every day without even knowing it.
So it may be salvageable depending how moldy it is.But for now on keep it refrigerated.

If the answer was 1 year, 2 years, 3 years etc, when would you deem it unsafe and why?
I’ve done 45 years in culinary and I would most certainly skim it and eat it.
Do you really think that the FDA knows what they’re doing with dates and quality control? If you do, I have a bridge for sale.
That a child can walk in a drug store and buy aspirin( which kills 1000′s of people a year) but cannot buy raw milk?
