Why Iced Tea Never Gets Old
Iced tea—it’s the most popular drink in the world especially in America. It is believed that Americans consume 91 billion gallons of iced tea every year. It literally has become a form of delicacy and for many, a day is never complete without iced tea.
People from all walks of life, regardless of race and background know that iced tea is a cool and refreshing drink. Many people love iced tea because aside from its health benefits, it is the type of drink that can be enjoyed at any occasion, in any country, all year round especially during summer time. Surely, not a lot of healthy beverages do most people find enjoyable. But with iced tea, it is associated with fun and leisure.
The name iced tea doesn’t mean that tea is made of ice but rather it is cold tea or “iced”.
There are numerous ways to prepare an iced tea. Everyone has their own versions of this favorite drink to suit their own palates. Preparing iced tea is very easy and like any other form of tea, it is simply mixing tea leaves or powder tea with water. In order to obtain its full flavor, it is usually brewed first and then it is made cold.
To make iced tea even more exciting, people add their own additional flavoring into it such as peach, lemon, raspberry and other fruit varieties. When it is ready, some ice cubes or any other form of ice is added into the mixture.
If you want to make your iced tea extra special, there is a different way of preparing it and it involves adding the right amount of water with the tea of your choice that is usually in a tea bag. Once the tea is soaked with water in a clear container, you put it outdoors in the sun and let it sit there for a time for the purpose of letting it soak some sun. Some believe that tea left to soak sun rays acquire a unique taste. The tea that is made from this method is known as the ‘sun tea’.
These days, iced tea comes in different flavors and even packaging. The most popular that are sold are those in cans and bottles. These types of container make it easier to cool the tea by putting it directly in cold temperatures such as refrigerating it.
The most exciting part about iced tea is, well, serving and drinking it. It is most often enjoyed to the fullest during the hot days of the summer worldwide. People especially in eastern countries like their iced tea to accompany their meals. No shop or restaurant can be without iced tea.
You can serve iced tea as it is or add some sweeteners like sugar. No matter how you like your iced tea, one thing stays the same—it’s iced!
