How do I tear paper out of a hard-bound notebook without tearing the edge?

I have a hard-bound sketch book and I want to get some drawing out of it…but the edges aren’t perforated and I spent too long on those drawings to have them accidentally rip. Also, cutting it with scissors is not straight enough and will cut part of it off (already tried…poor, poor rose drawing got hacked in half…)
yeah, i realize this may be the ‘wrong’ section… but I felt it fit with the thing being about a sketch book and all…
