Repair The Condition Of Your Outdoor Teak Wood Furniture
Outdoor teak wood furniture is probably one of the most durable types of outdoor furniture that you can get. It is too bad that most people do not realize this and as outdoor teak wood furniture gets older and looses some of its luster they will throw out or give away the furniture when a few simple steps could easily and quickly return it to its former glory.
By following the directions below you can take your old outdoor teak wood furniture and return it to the condition it was in when you got it, or possibly even make it better. Most of outdoor wood patio furniture is very expensive these days, and because teak is such a durable and long lasting material it makes a perfect candidate for projects like this.
How to Restore Your Outdoor Teak Wood Furniture to its Previous Condition
The first step in any restoration project is to prepare the furniture to be stained. If you have a power washer this is a great time to use it. If you do not, then you will have to go with the old tried and true method, elbow grease. Use a warm water and soap solution to remove and of the obvious and heavy crud that is on the furniture. This first step is critical in your preparation of the outdoor teak wood furniture.
The next step after this is to lightly sand down the furniture. You want to be careful not to sand to hard as the outdoor teak wood furniture may not accept a stain or sealant after it has been sanded. You basically want to use about 100 grit or sand paper in this step to open up the pores to accept the stain or sealant. After you have gone through and sanded down the entire piece you are ready to begin staining.
For this step all you need to do is go out and select the right stain or sealant. Once you have done this, simply follow the instructions as to how best to treat the outdoor teak wood furniture. Make sure that the stain that you are using is meant for teak as there are different stains for different purposes and you have to make absolutely sure that you are using the right stain or sealant for the task at hand.
Once that is complete you just need to make sure that the furniture is completely dry and then you can begin using it. By following these basic steps you can save yourself hundreds of dollars by re using your old furniture. If you are feeling really dedicated you can go out and shop at yard sales for older furniture to refinish yourself.
