Who owns jamaica blue mountain coffee?
Im wondering who currently owns Jamaica blue mountain coffee?
Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica has a very tight control on export. They are strict about certification, and every barrel has to be inspected / certified by CIBOJ. Japanese own a very large share of crops. I heard as much as 70%. The largest coffee estates are Maven and Wallenford. Then you have brands that import / resell / package / roast, etc. Jablum is a popular one. I personally love My Soul Cafe 100% Pure (www.mysoulcafe.com). Although, if you’re price conscious, My Soul Cafe Blue Mountain Blend is also excellent! I know that they roast in small batches, which is why it is always delivered freshly roasted. Be careful of those brands that don’t have the official CIBOJ seal. They may not be certified, which means you may get like “one bean” of Jamaica Blue Mountain in your bag. There are scams on ebay too. Magnum’s Blue Mountain Blend that Costco sells is AWFUL!!!
