Good recipes for cappuccino-inspired cake?
My boyfriend’s birthday is next week and I’m planning a small surprise party for him this weekend – I want to make a cake, but the problem is that my guy isn’t much of a fan of sweets, so I can’t do your regular vanilla or chocolate cake.
He loves coffee, so I’m thinking of making something sort of cappuccino or mocha-flavored that won’t be too heavy on the sugar, and I’m wondering if anyone has any good recipes they’d like to share to help me out? He’s a pretty adventurous sort, and I’m not afraid of trying something sorta out-there. Thanks!
I work with a lot of people who don’t like regular cakes – they frequently order cheesecakes from me because they’re good gifts AND perfect for anyone who doesn’t like sweet sweets!
The first link is a recipe for Cafe Au Lait cheesecake. Sounds yummy to me!
The second link is a recipe for Tiramisu – an Italian coffee dessert made also made with a creamy, not too sweet, cheese layer over liquor soaked lady fingers. [Personally I alwyas substitute Kahlua or Maderia in place of the brandy.]
