Know Different Types Of Combs
Comb is a flat piece either made of plastic, wood, or metal; possessing a row of thin or wide teeth on its one edge. A comb serves the purpose of hair grooming and is known to be the first implement of beauty invented. Hair combs are made using various materials, shapes and sizes, to serve the purpose of hair styling and combing. The main difference in Combs can be in spacing of teeth, the wideness of teeth, length of teeth and even its shape and the material used in its making. A myriad of materials are used in the manufacturing of combs include wood, plastic, horns, metals, bones and bohn form.
Wooden combs are often manufactured from woods of boxwood, plum, cherry, and other types of fine woods, are also called natural combs. Such combs are greatly beneficial for hair, if nicely smoothed. These when gently used on hair, can significantly reduce hair breakage. However, wooden combs are not water-resistant and must be cleaned with oil. Metallic combs on the other hand, are made of materials like aluminum, and its various alloys. These are preferred in making hair lie down, styling and for cutting hair. Metallic combs are absolutely water resistant and don’t break very easily.
Plastic combs are very common, are comparatively cheap, water resistant and if not handled properly, may break. Although, seamless type plastic combs can work nicely on your hair and can be easily cleaned. Combs made of horn are made of keratin, and horns obtained from animals. Combs made of bones are composed of the bones of fish, and various other animals. Such type of combs contains huge amounts of organic resins, and is strongly recommended for hair care and prevents tangling.
On the basis of purposes, for which they are used combs are assorted into following types. Rat tail combs are considered best for styling and parting hair. Picks combs are widely used for lifting hair up and boosts volume. Styling combs with metal pins are preferred for styling and smoothing hair. Regular comb is designed for regular use and detangles hair. Teasing combs are considered best for teasing hair.
