My 8 month old french mastiff is peeing on my plants and my furniture. Is it cause he isn’t neutered?

I wanted to mate him and keep a puppy. But if he’s going to keep peeing on my things then it will have to be done. Is this normal? He doesn’t hump anything which I thought if you didn’t neuter him then they would do that more often but he’s opposite.

Do you have another male in the house (even a neutered one)? Our DDB did that a couple of times when our female was in heat until our older male dog passed away even though we kept the two males in separate areas of the house. It is a normal behavior and hard to break them of because it is hormone driven. Yes it will continue until your dog is neutered. If you’ve been showing at all you already have some idea of whether or not your dog is conformationally sound. Unfortunately, you wont know for another year or so what he will mature out to type wise and if his temperament will be appropriate for breeding. My advice is to wait if you can. We don’t recommend neutering until at least 18 months for this breed in order for them to reach their full size potential, but clearly you can’t have him marking in your house either.
