How can the Tea Party expect people these days to live up to “the American Dream”–when it no longer exists?
“…the ability to earn your own way, to generate your own wealth, to create your own American dream should be relatively free from all of the inhibitions of the government…”
Is this even possible anymore–given our stagnant and low wages, poor job growth, lack of access to affordable education, zero health benefits, weak and volatile 401Ks, and questionable pension plans that may or may not live up to people’s expectations?
Is the Tea Party trying to say that “Yes, we can still do it!”–or are they grasping at straws on this ideal?
because the Tea party’s definition of the ‘American Dream’ is reverting the country back to the 1950s. Our stagnant and low wages, poor job growth, lack of access to affordable education, zero health benefits, weak and volatile 401Ks, and questionable pension plans that may or may not live up to people’s expectations— are all things most TEA PArty candidates support as most are against social security, Medicare, health care reform and the department of education
