Have you ever used concentrated liquid coffee instead of “dry” coffee for making your cup of coffee?
I remember when I was growing up here in Ireland that there was liquid stuff called “Irel” http://wholesale.foodireland.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=w522101&Category_Code=casebeverages but seldom had it, the regular dry coffee was the norm.
For the last few months I’ve been buying liquid coffee called “Camp”, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Coffee it’s “Chicory & Coffee Essence”, it’s in a tall slim glass bottle and makes a fantastic cup of coffee but you can only make it with milk – not water (as far as I know? I never make coffee with water anyway) Has anyone else ever tried stuff like this? Thanks.

There is a brand called Douwe Egbert that is a concentrated liquid. I believe it is Dutch and is very available here in the U.S. It does not need to be mixed with milk. Chicory was used as a coffee substitute by Confederate troops during the U.S. War Between the States. The South was blockaded by the Union. Chicory is still used in New Orleans in coffee. Ittends to make for a more bitter brew, but is a lovely cultivated taste!
