jasmine tea bags
Help over a minor dispute?

My mother and I are in a disagreement. I make Jasmine tea differently than most people i know. I take two bags, break them open, and mix them with sugar, whereas the “Normal method” Is to use 3 teabags, putting them in a bowl of hot water for 15 minutes, then adding sugar, afterward putting the mixture in a pitcher with water. She says the tea leaves are harmful, and i say its perfectly harmless. (Also shes a fĂ»cking moron). Who’s right?
=P Ok, so i didnt REALLY mean that she is a moron, but honestly, why would it be harmful? This isnt the first thing shes said something about that shes been seriously seemingly wrong in.

Jasmine tea is NOT meant to be drunk with sugar. It is not meant to be used in bag form, nor put into a pitcher.

Your method is the most close to the real method of jasmine tea. but still not the perfect way.

Loose jasmie tea is put into a pot, and boiling, NOT hot, but BOILING water is poured over the tea and covered then left to steep.I taek from your post you are American. Let me just say this, I am living in America and do not understand, nor will ever understand the dumb way of putting hot water onto teabags. Tea is meant for boiling water to be poured onto it.

And it’s not meant to be made in a bowl, but that is more personal taste .

Your mothers pethod is wrong wrong wrong- sugar is wrong, bowl is wrong and then mixing the steeped tea with water ( cold?) then poutting that into a pitcher is wrong.
And the teabags are wrong.

So, she is wrong on four counts.

If you guys HAVE to use tea bags, then opening the bag, as you do, or using them as they are, is going to be the same difference.
The worst thing about tea is tea bags is that the packing company uses the dust of the tea that is left after they put all the nice leaves and bigger bits of tea into paperpackages for loose tea.

I used to live in a tea plantation in India and this is what they do- teabag tea is the lowest quality and not the large leaf, flower tea that Jasmine is. If you get real jasmine tea, is is smokey and sweet and had big leaves which uncurl in the boiuling water.

Your method is half OK.
Split the bags, or leave them intact, no big difference in taste.
Add boiling water onto the leaves/bags in a big ceramic or glass pot. Cover with a lid, and let stepp for a few minutes.

In china, they will let the leaves steep from five hours sometimes, byu which time it’s nasty, let me tell you. You want to get it fresh!
Sugar is not good in Jasmine tea, but since no American person can survive a day wihout huge amounts of the stuff, then go ahead.

It is
normal

to put loose tealeave into a pot then pour on boiling water, cover, and drink as is.

SO you r method is closest to China.

I don’t know where you get the idea that the normal method is to add sugar, cold water and what esle, god that’s rubbish.

The leaves are harmful? Uhm………no.

No, they are not.

Oh wait a minute I get it, they are harmful if you are allergi to leaves.
What a strange idea, the leaves are not harmful in the slightest.
