Gifts for Hawaiian friends?
A Hawaiian friend sent me a big box of Maui coffee and macadamia nuts, and I’d like to send them something in return. However, I live in Tennessee and there’s not a whole lot special to this area. Is there anything that we have stateside that is unavailable or just too expensive to buy in Hawaii?
Fresh, fresh, fresh pecans! Most people in Hawaii don’t even eat pecans because the ones we buy here are stale and cost about $16 a pound. O, I lie awake nights dreaming of the pecans that fell in our yard in Alabama! Oh, and maybe some black walnuts. Yum!
I would say peaches, but I know it’s not the season for them, and they would never survive the shipping. I have never eaten a decent fresh peach in Hawaii, not in nearly ten years on three different islands!
