Chandeliers clay pot?

My grandmother died and left everything to me. Right now I have about 500 clay / terra cotta pots. The most little hope to turn into candles or tealight candle chandeliers size. I have read online terracotta / clay pots are porous and must be coated with Mod Podge or a similar substance inside the pot to prevent the absorption of the wax and become a fire hazard. I can not buy Mod Podge within a 100 mile radius of me so do my own substance Mod Podge to 3 parts white glue and 1 part water. My question is will my home made batch to the same effect as the branded stuff? I do not want liability issues, if I decide to sell some of them. I've only been able to find a website that this coating is not even necessary. Has anyone done this and I can tell if the lining is more necessary? Or if there is a cheaper cover material that I can use?

I do not think it is ModPodge diluted formula as white tail. They have a very different appearance and smell. Have you thought about ordering online? JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts (www.joann.com) sells from website. (Michaels, Aaron Brothers do not believe that either.) JoAnn has a 40% discount if you join their online brochure. That might help. You can always be low after a while. You can also ask the local paint or hardware store porous sealant container. That may well be something locally that would work. Be sure to mention the plan to use for candles.
