Can I use puppy shampoo for kittens?
It’s just normal all purpose dog and puppy tearless shampoo. It doesn’t say not for cats but I figured since it was ok for puppies it would be ok for kittens. See I’m fostering 5 kittens and since they were caught outside they’ve got dirt and whatnot under their nails. Every time they play with each other they get rough and one got an abscess. The abscess healed but now another kitten has one. I know it’s from the junk under their nails when they play so I wanted to bathe them. It would reduce the chance of them getting more abscess’s especially because they’re tame and almost ready to go to the shelter.
It’s not made with tea tree oil but since the majority of the answers say no I’ll trust you guys and wait to use it. Hopefully no one else gets an abscess before I can go out and buy some kitten shampoo. These abscess’s are gross to deal with >_<
NO – never use any dog products on kittens or cats. There are certain ingredients in those products that are harmful or toxic to cats but are safe for dogs. Tea tree oils are toxic to cats.
If you don’t have kitten shampoo, you can wash them this time in a little Dawn dish soap and rinse very well. Be sure to keep the kittens out of drafts and get them dried quickly.
