Is Euctalyptus oil a good room and car deodorizer?
The fact is I can get a 4 oz. bottle for $2.50, which is less than half of the ready made oil diffusers or any other room freshener; plus this way I get a lot more than those single items. I have an old one serving tea pot with some euctalyptus oil in it and a home made diffuser in my car. Unsophisticated yes but it works, but do you think this might make me smell like a tree or forest?
Yes it is a lovely car and room deodorizer, but like all good things – in small doses. It is very strong! And it will strip the pain or varnish off any surface that it comes into contact with and make plastic or vinyl go all “gooey” in time (like all essential oils). I suggest either dabbing a few drops on a cotton wool ball and placing it in an open disposable cup, or a glass jar (for the house) hidden somewhere which has good airflow. That way the smell will carry into the room or car. Alternatively you could make a room spray of a mix of water, vodka and 20 or so DROPS of eucalyptus oil. There are plenty of recipes on the web. (Add some Polysorbate 20 if you want it to mix well.) Put it in a spray bottle and voila cheap and instant room deodorizer!
