Where can I find a good 10-cup coffee carafe with no metal parts that I can use in the microwave oven?
Actually, I want to use this for other things as well, like cooking vegetables in small quantities and boiling water. Please don’t suggest I use something like plastic in the microwave or stainless steel or aluminum on the stovetop. I really like preparing food in glass and the simplicity and speed of the microwave. Other ideas using glass and the microwave are welcome.
I previously had a wide-mouth glass coffee pot with a plastic handle and no metal parts that could be placed in the microwave, filled with water, and the water boiled. The plastic handle would become warm but not too hot to hold. If I go with Pyrex, I think the glass handle will get very hot along with the contents of the vessel. Is there any trick to preventing this or will I just have to face up to using a pot holder every time? Not that that’s such a big deal – - – - just one more added inconvenience to an already overburdened schedule.

For other cooking in the microwave? I got my son a one-quart/1-liter Pyrex measuring cup. He uses it to heat water, cook soup, cook canned pastas, steam vegetables etc. It comes with a lid, so it’s probably perfect for what you would like to use it for… it strains and everything
