What color furniture and decor would look good in this room?

It has dark wood panelling, and dark wood floors. The room also has bright recessed lighting throughout. The dining room would be on the far end and the living room on the closer end of the first photo.
I have an off-white colored futon, a black 40″ TV, and a dark wood and black small table that the TV sits on. There is a wood coffee table and end table that are also in this picture. I need to find a dining room set, and figure out the best way to decorate this room. What color dining set would work? What color storage furniture would work, if I decide to get a book case or display case?
Let me know any ideas you have of sprucing up this room

i recommend sanding some of the panels before applying paint. it would observe the paint better and it would give it a more vintage feel that it would seem more real with the paint.
yes light walls would be too much of a strong contrast but it would be great to have the contrast on the ceiling. currently your ceiling is too dark and it would be great to lighten it up.
when selecting furniture try to stay away from to much wood. balance it out with glass and fabric. for example a dinning room table with a glass top, wood legs, the seat wood leags with a slipcover. Add a runner on the floor as well as an area rug. this would help balance the room from all the wood.
when painting the wall don’t over paint the grooves this way it still shows it’s woodsy feel.
than add wall art as well as plants if you like.
