French Press Coffee a Treat for Coffee Lovers
Don’t use the French press coffee maker for warming the coffee. If you cannot drink the fresh brewed coffee right away, pour the coffee into another warming container. Start making the French press coffee by boiling water in your kettle on the stove top or electric kettle. An electric kettle will provide you with auto shut off which may be an advantage. While the water is boiling, grind the coffee. A desired temperature for the water to reach is 195-200 degrees. Your beans should be grounded to a course or medium size. Add the beans to the filter and then add the boiling water. Then insert the filter and the plunger of the coffee maker. This will make French press coffee. Most coffee makers come with instructions on how to best utilize them.
With a French press, the grounds brew in hot water and press to the bottom so that the coffee never passes through a filter. This type of brewing makes a profound difference to the taste. There are several types of French press coffee makers such as stainless steel. This type is especially effective in keeping the coffee warm. Search the different makes of French presses to decide which is better suited for you. Once you buy the French press, ground the coffee beans and brew. You may find the bottom of your cup of coffee still has residue. Another consideration is that a French press requires no electricity especially if you have a gas powered stove for boiling your water. The coffee press doesn’t use electricity.
Most of us have been happy enough with our standard coffee makers and would not think to try a French pressed coffee. The filtered coffee is usually satisfying but coffee can taste better. It is always fun to try something new and a French press coffee can be a great experience.
