How exactly should you treat a homophobic person?
the other day i was with my group of friends at a coffee shop and one of my guy friends is gay. another one of our friends who just kinda hangs out with us everyonce in awhile joined us as we were in the conversation of my gay friend’s boyfriend. not knowing the guy was gay, our “part-time” friend started going off about how sick gay people are and how they need to find out a way to cure homosexuals. the entire time he’s just going off about this we were sitting there like wow… ok and half way through our gay friend excused himself and left. i felt horrible and the entire time i wanted to grab the napkin holder and chuck it at “part-time”‘s face. needless to say we all left after his rant ended but we excused ourselves kindly. i regret not saying anything to “part-time” regarding what he said but i think if i was given the opportunity, i wouldn’t know how to address his behavior.
any ideas about what i should do about the situation? or should i just let it go?
Probably shouldn’t waste your time on “part-time.” After all. If he wasn’t an ass he would be a real friend.
You can’t convince homophobic people to not be bigots. Just don’t waste your time. You can’t open a close mind.
Haha, like the guy above me for example. There is no convincing him. The Homosexual agenda? He makes it sound like a cult.. Yeah, like all gay people are getting together and creating an agenda to take over the world. By saying that he assumes all gay people are the same. Its no different then racism or sexism.
