How do I make a coffee and chocolate cake..?
I want to make a coffee and chocolate cake but it’s a little tricky. I want there to be just one layer – one cake, but two flavours. I’m not going to mix the coffee and chocolate together, I want the coffee on top and chocolate underneath (or vice versa) but all to be part of one sponge. Any idea how to do this? Is there any such thing as cooking paper which dissolves in heat? Or any other tips?
Thanks:D
well… what kind of cake are you making? In what kind of pan?
You could split the batter and flavor one with your cocoa or melted chocolate, and the other with kahlua. The liquid would have to be coffee for both batters I think. Then just pour one batter in the pan and top with the other. It won’t bake into 2 perfect layers, but they would be there and be distinctly separated. Or you could make a chocolate coffee marble by swirling the two layered batters with a knife.
Another option is to just make a chocolate cake and frost with a mocha buttercream. Or you could make a chocolate cake, poke holes in it and drizzle it with a coffee syrup made from equal parts of coffee and sugar.
