How can I make a water filter for tech class without pre-made filters, and only 1 coffee filter?

Ok were gonna make a filtration system out of any materials that you can find, and you can only use 1 coffee filter and anything else. We can’t use pre-made filters sutch as a fishtank filter. And it has to have 3 layers of filtration, any ideas?

use the activated carbon pellets if you plan on drinking this stuff, but for clarity and cheapness the sand/gravel method will work.
