Any tips on Painting coffee table, buffet and strip and restain an end table?
I have a coffee table that is some sort of veneer (real wood legs) a buffet that is also some fake wood and an end table that is real wood (maple i think). The end table was stained and sealed not sure what i sealed it with polyurethane, varnish not sure. I want to re-stain the table much darker and paint the coffee table and buffet black and seal them for wear and tear (feet on the table, cups, food, heat etc.)
So many products on the market I just want to do it right so it withstands wear and tear. Any and all advise is greatly appreciated!
The solid wood table can be sanded down, stained and varnished. You mat want to consider black walnut stain and this usually take 2 to 3 coats of stain to achieve the darkness. Laminate can’t be stained or sealed. You can paint it. Apply a coat of “Kilz” to the laminate. This is a primer and sealer, dries quickly and is water based for easy clean-up. Choose the color of paint you want and go with an interior latex enamel. 2 coats are required here. You could use a water based polyurethane over this but check the can for recommendations and do a test on a scrap piece of wood to mimic the final application.
