Why does coffee tend to get darker while the carafe sits on a warm element?
My first cup would be a what I would expect in a coffee after I pour my milk in but the second cup around 45 minutes to one hour later comes out very dark when I pour the same amount of milk in.
It would be better if you took the coffee off the heat and put it in an insulated carafe.
Most coffee ‘lovers’ will drink their coffee within 15 minutes of preparation or put it in the insulated carafe so that the flavor does degrade.
But never leave good coffee on a heating element.
