coffee maker question for you?

I have a stainless steel mr coffee – coffee maker that I bought on christmas eve. Its only been used a few times. The first time I dumped the coffee basket out right away and rinsed the coffee basket and the coffee pot. On new yrs EVE I made a pot of coffee and FORGOT to dump the grounds until 1130 pm this past sunday nite. So essentially the used coffee grounds were inside the coffee maker for 2 or 3 days total. Would that mold my coffee maker up that quickly. I did not notice any mold in the used wet coffee grounds. Should I return it to the store I bought it from and exchange it? I washed out the coffee basket and the stainless steel carafe in the kitchen sink with dish soap.

Goldie, you’re worrying too much. Coffee is pretty acidic and is hard to get mold to grow. If you want to really clean it well, run white vinegar through it and then run clear water through it several times to rinse it out. Good Luck!
