Same here. The company we worked for laid off and was one of the top paying jobs around here. It is to close its doors March of this year. We were laid off two years ago and we found less paying jobs that eventually laid us off right before christmas last year. Talk about a Merry Christmas! My b/f and I are now jobless. He draws unemployment, but after taxes and child support are taken out he doesn’t make enough to pay his truck payment or any other bills here. I did not have enough in unemployment this time to draw so needless to say, we are up a creek without a paddle. We can’t move anywhere because we have no money to put down on anything, nor do we have the money to have the power switched over to another place. I stood in line for 4 hours in the cold to apply at a local grocery store that is opening up here only to be told they would keep my application and call me if they had any openings. Our rent isn’t much but we still cannot afford it. Thank God my car is paid for and my son is grown. My phone will be cut off the end of this month and we are facing eviction as well. We have no money in the bank, and like I said, after my b/f pays child support there is no money left for us. We have sent out resumes and filled out numerous applications with no luck. We have not even had any interviews. I even looked for waitressing jobs and fast food places only to be turned away. Seems they are looking for younger people to work those jobs. I have plenty of work experience with some college background, but that doesn’t help these days. I do not know where we are going to go or what we are going to do. Our families are in the same situation so we do not ask anything of them. So, I do not know what the future holds for any of us and I only pray that someone will call us about a job this week. Good luck on your job hunting and God bless you.
