cleaning the burner part of my coffee maker?
its has what looks like rust on the burner part
it is not that old only had it for a year but it stopping the burner from keeping the coffee hot
any ideas how I can clean it without damaging the burner area ?

Steel wool should clean up what “rust” is on their now, but this would only be a temporary fix. Once you clean the burner, you should put some protective coating back on.
You may be able to find some stove paint, or grill paint, that has a high temperature resistance.
One thing to consider would be time invested into materials and labor versus the actual cost of a new coffee maker. If your looking for a plain unit, you will run about $15.00 to $25.00; which is compairable to the cost you’ll have in steel wool, and some sort of paint.
