can i decaffeinate coffee/tea at home?
we’re actually high school students and our project is to find an alternative to deffeinate coffee beans without using the CO2 method or the direct method. our target is to find an easy alternative of getting the caffeine out of the beans.. if you know any alternative, please help us.
Caffeine can and is removed from coffee through the use of cyclohexane solvent extraction. Unfortunately, cyclohexane is fairly toxic, and must be handled carefully. But the caffeine that is extracted is safe once the cyclohexane is removed.
