Why is it always Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream?

Why is it always mint chocolate chip ice cream? Why don’t they sell mint ice cream, with no chocolate or anything else in it?
Seriously, I love mint chocolate chip ice cream, but sometimes I’d like it without the chocolate. Why can’t I find it in the stores? Does anyone know the real reason? Why does there have to be chocolate in it?

I think mint has a limited following. I am a mint lover and find that many times people will reject something I have made or select because it has mint in it (Coconut is the same. Some people hate it)
I believe the ice cream manufacturers are hoping to attract a wider audience by adding the chocolate component. Who doesn’t love chips?
I love the combination, personally. I just bought a mess of Mint Three Musketeers.
You can make delicious mint ice cream yourself with very little effort. Look for Paula Deen’s “Easy Oreo Ice Cream” recipe, readily available on line, and leave out the cookies, and substitute the vanilla with mint extract. (Peppermint)
