Does a tea pot’s material affect it’s flavor?
for loose leaf teas (where you add hot water to a satchel or teaspoon of leaves), obviously a plastic strainer or a plastic pot (if they make them) will give hot tea a weird…plastic…-y…. taste from soaking in the boiling water so a metal/ceramic/porcelain pot would be a better alternative.
but what would be the better choice of the three?
does a pot’s composition even affect a hot tea’s flavor at all?
looking to buy a pot or ask for one for Christmas, is there any online store or place to buy from that you could recommend?
thank you for all of your responses! Tea is LIFE!

Yeah, I noticed that, too. It’s always disconcerting whenever your tea tastes like plastic.
I prefer glass or cast iron, though glass teapots cool faster, so I don’t recommend it as much for black teas and tisane. I would guess that the composition does affect the flavor, with the exception of glass, but for some kinds of metal, it almost enhances the flavor.
You can easily purchase a cast iron teapot online at popular sites like Amazon or Teavana. Le Creuset makes great stoneware pots, and there are many companies that make glass ones.
