how many pounds of each blend should they produce in order to use all the available beans?
a coffee manufacturer uses columbian and brazilian coffee beans to produce two blends, robust and mild. a pound of the robust blend requires 12 ounces of colombian beans and 4 ounces of brazilian beans. a pound of the mild blend requires 6 ounces of colombian beans and 10 ounces of brazilian beans. coffe is shipped in 119-pound burlap bags. the company has 53 bags of colombian beans and 45 bags of brazilian beans on hand. how many pounds of each blend should they produce in order to use all the available beans?

Colombian beans:
53 bags x 119 pounds/bag = 6,307 pounds
Brazilian beans:
45 bags x 119 pounds/bag = 5,355 pounds
If robust mix = x pounds of robust and mild mix = y pounds of mild mix
3/4x + 3/8y = 6307
1/4x + 5/8y = 5355
This system of equations solves to x = 5156⅔ and y = 6505⅓.
This means they should make 5,156⅔ pounds of the robust mix and 6,505⅓ pounds of mild mix in order to use all he available beans, <==ANSWER
