I need help buying a new coffeemaker!?

I have to buy a coffeemaker as a gift for someone who’s a bit of a coffee connoisseur, and I’ve never bought one before, plus, I don’t drink coffee myself. I’m looking for a high quality one, and it has to allow you to adjust the darkness of the coffee. Please make suggestions! (He already has a grinder and doesn’t want one that has a grinder built in, and also don’t want one of those that uses the little cups. Don’t need expresso maker– just a good coffee maker. Also want a timer, automatic shut off, that kind of thing, and possibly one that uses those gold filters– taste is important!)

Well, I really like coffee, so I got a nice one. It’s a Bunn (around $90) and it doesn’t have the grinder or the “little cups”. It doesn’t have a timer, shut-off, or the gold filters. It just makes coffee, but it makes good coffee.
If you want the time, etc. you will probably have to buy one that also has the grinder built in. (In my opinion, the gold filters make the coffee taste worse.) Expect to spend over $50 for a good one. The main thing that makes a coffee maker make good coffee is the temperature that it heats the water to. Around 190 F degrees is good.
