math help please!!!!!!!!!?

in math, we are doing systems of equations with word problems, and our teacher completely confused me on how to do these. i have no idea even where to begin in relation to how to put the 2 equations together. if someone could explain it to me, or show me a website that could help me out, i would really appreciate it. (the reason i don’t ask the professor is because she speaks very little english and doesn’t understand when people speak to her). the question is: colombian coffee beans cost 5.50/ lb while peruvian coffee beans cost 4.25 /lb. we want to mix the beans together so as to produce a 40 lb bag, costing 4.60 / lb. How many pounds of each type of bean should be used? thank you so much!!!!

y = lbs of peruvian
so the system is:
x + y = 40
5.5x + 4.25y = 4.6(40)
there’re several ways to solve these.
maybe you’d use substitution:
y = 40 – x
so
5.5x + 4.25(40 – x) = 184
5.5x + 170 – 4.25x = 184
1.25x = 14
x = 11.2 lbs ✔
so
y = 28.8 lbs ✔
