Where can I purchase green tea that does not come from Japan/China?
I used to buy green tea from an online tea specialist shop that stocks its tea from Japan and China mainly. I am a bit worried of getting tea from Japan at the moment because of the risk of radiation contamination. And I don’t quite trust the tea from China either. They have managed to find radiation here in Europe, so the levels must be much higher in the east.
Does anyone know where I get purchase green tea or tea similar to the Japanese sencha, Jasmine infused dragon balls, bamboo shoots etc that might be safer to drink?
Sorry, but this might be very troublesome. As far as I know most of the greens are produced in China and Japan. I’ve also seen a few greens from other countries like Taiwan but as far as I understand this doesn’t meet your requirements. The only country I can think of and which is not located in the far east is India (also may be Sri Lanka). I heard they are producing some teas and they likely do greens too. These greens are probably not the most popular ones so you might need to spend some time googling before you find a store that sells them. Also I think it’s extremely unlikely that you will find sencha, bamboo shoots, and other famous Chinese/Japanese greens in other countries. What you’ll find will likely be some generic “green Indian tea”.
