In popping corn kernels, why should you use the alcohol lamp instead of bunsen burner?

I guess the question says everything. We just did a lab activity in school wherein we used the alcohol lamp to pop the corn kernels in a beaker. (The popcorn tasted good, just saying). Then she asked us why we didn’t use the bunsen burner when we had just learned how to use it last week.

If you used the Bunsen burner, the beaker would have been heated from the bottom, the kernels at the bottom of the beaker would have popped creating an insulating layer making it harder for the heat to reach the ones at the top, so your popcorn on the bottom would probably have burned before the ones on the top popped. The heat lamp probably distributed the heat more evenly over the whole beaker.
