I grind my own dark roasted coffee tastes so bitter. What is the correct amount of a pot (12 cups)?
Gary, what are you using to grind with? If it's one of those things play unbridled flights is part of the problem. bitter coffee can be attributed to two or three issues. A them is routine. Brings routine all too well the bitter taste, and in the case of the wild thing has a multitude of sizes of grinding in a batch … bad … Then the little coffee will make water leech over bitter flavors to start with a tablespoon per cup (8 ounces of water-no marks on the boat) and go up or down to taste … another is too hot water temperature. Now, this point is moot, because if you are using a coffee machine that will not worry too hot … The use of a "modern" pot 12 machines means that you are using about 50 ounces of water or approximately 7.5 cups REAL (8 oz each) … well that I would start with 7 tablespoons of ground coffee. This will be stronger than what most people are used to, but not bitter …. put in 4 tablespoons of it to return a bitter coffee ….
